REVIEW # 3 - ARMAGNAC 19.12.2023
Domaine de Jouatmaou 1988
ALC: 40 %
Bottled by: OB
Bottled: unknown
Number of bottles: unknown (different sizes available)
DESCRIPTION:
Almost my vintage. Let's see, if we get here some more wodness or spices from the cask and if he can beat the 1989.
COLOUR:
The color here is more on the copper side
NOSE:
First: Vanilla! Then red fruits, like strawberry and rasperry. As well some red grapes, a touch of caramel and milk chocolate there.
PALATE:
Missing a little bit the cask strength here.
But very sweet, cacao and again some caramel here. Not that fruity as the nose. Some more spices from the wood here compared to the 2006.
FINISH:
Dryer and soft. But still there and quite long for the low ABV.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
I really would like to see this one with a little higher ABV. The 1989 from Row Spirits has 41,5 %. That is not a huge difference but tastewise, I'd always choose the 1989. But still a nice and well balanced armagnac.
RESULT:
- 86/100 -
