REVIEW # 22 - Cognac

Vallein Tercinier Lot 68
ALC: 46,3 %
Bottled by: OB
Bottled: 2022, Single Cask
Number of bottles: 156 (70 cl)
DESCRIPTION:
This Single Cask bottling from 1968 was selected by Kirsch Import Germany. It's a Fins Bois Cognac and they used 100 % Ugni Blanc grapes. I really like this classic bottle style and the wooden box, which comes with it. High quality spirts like this one deserve a nice box, in my opinion.
COLOUR:
Caramel
NOSE:
Creme brulee, intense spiciness, apple pie, apricot, thyme, rosmarin and mirabelle. Everything in a perfect harmony and none of it is too dominant. The nose leaves you thinking that hopefully the palate and finish will be just as great.
PALATE:
Wonderful palate with sweetness, very fruity and even a bit oily. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Juicy oranges leave your mouth watering. I keep thinking the whole time about my favorite desert, Crepe Suzette. It's like a liquid Crepe Suzette. This stuff is really special.
FINISH:
Medium long. Capuccino notes, milk chocolate, cinnamon and a little bit lemon zest and anise. But there is no bitterness or too much wood. Some old leather after a few seconds. Like the nose and the palate, again very harmonious. Fantastic finish.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
One of the best cognacs I've tasted so far. It has a perfect combination of what a great cognac should have. Intense Nose, but not exaggerated, a juicy palate with this very nice Crepe Suzette touch and of course the well balanced finish with a touch of christmas.
