DESCRIPTION:
My first offical review from the Maison Aurian.
There are many single barrel Armagnac from this house on the market which means, that this won't be my last review from Aurian. I just saw on their website, that they sell vintages beginning at the year 1900. The house itself exisits since 1880.
COLOUR:
Espresso
NOSE:
Intense nose. Here is a lot going on. I have raisins and dark chocolate. Some very dark cherries, old leather and ginger bread. It is though very elegant, complex and not overwhelming.
PALATE:
Nice mixture between the leather, nutiness and fruitiness. A little bit dryer than what I expected. Altough it only has a little bit over 40 % ABV the power of the wood is quite intense.
FINISH:
Spices jump straight into your mouth and stay there very long. Very nice finish with notes of esspresso and some damp cellar smell. But not too intense, that it would disturb the finish.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
It's a nice Armagnac from Aurian. From the past I know, that I've tasted better casks. This one is solid and down to earth.
RESULT:
- 82/100 -
