Lheraud Lot 78
ALC: 52,2 % (cask strength)
Bottled by: Le Gus't
Bottled: 2023
Number of bottles: 184 (70ππ)
DESCRIPTION:
I didn't had the opportunity to taste many Lherauds. But the ones I've tasted were phenomenal.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to visit Lheraud. As far as I know it's only possible for traders.
From the Lot 70/23 and as well from the Lot 78/23 I had one sample each. They're both from the Petite Champagne and for both they used Ugni Blanc grapes.
Let's try the younger vintage first and the Lot 70/23 will be reviewed shortly.
COLOUR:
Gold
NOSE:
Floral and fresh tropical fruits like banana, pineapple and lychee. There is also a note of blossom honey. After letting it breath for a while, if a have a present grape note. The wood is very temperate in the nose.
PALATE:
The palate starts one-dimensional and very soft. Some fruits again but the alcohol is more present now. Not really much going on here.
FINISH:
Again very sweet and fruity. There are almost no spices from the wood coming through. The finish is for >50 % ABV. very short.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
Where is the wood? I mean this one is more than 40 years old. I expect here more power from the wood. It's not a bad cognac at all, but from Lheraud I expect a little bit more. The only thing I really like is the sweetness and fruityness from the nose.
RESULT:
