REVIEW # 13 - ARMAGNAC 19.01.2024
Domaine de Danis 1999, Single Cask No. 11
ALC: 46 %
Bottled by: OB
Bottled: 2022
Number of bottles: Unknown (70ππ)
DESCRIPTION:
Another great place to visit, if you are in the Armagnac region, is Victoire and her brother Vincent. They produce their Armagnac with a lot of passion and it's an absolutely joy, to walk with Victoire through their small warehouse. But small isn't bad at all, if the quality is right. And they have high quality Armagnacs and it's really worth taste some directly from the caks. Below this review you can find some pictures from my last visit.
This review is about the Single Cask (Folle Blanche) from 1999.
COLOUR:
Ocher
NOSE:
With the first smell you have a little fight between some fresh mint and spices. As well there is a sweetness from a very ripe banana and some brown sugar. I had the chance to taste already some different Danis and there is always a touch of cinnamon, which I also find in this one.
PALATE:
What a sweet and fruity palate. It's a complete fruit basket you get here. I have nectarine, mango, pineapple, orange. And again this beautiful scent of cinnamon. No dryness or bitterness. I just love it.
FINISH:
The finish is quite long. I didn't find a lot of spices on the palate but in the finish the spices are more present. As well there is dark chocolate and grapefruit. Even after a minute, there are few spices left and some bitterness from the oak showing up.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
Another "wow" Armagnac from this wonderful Domaine. This one with a little higher ABV would probably crack the 95. Anyway, you're doing a great job Victoire and Vincent! Price is, when I wrote this review, about 85 EUR. Definitely a must buy!
