DESCRIPTION:
This is a Grand Champagne Cognac from Daniel Bouju. Unfortunately, I can't find any information concerning the used grapes.
I had the chance to taste the Daniel Bouju #14 Le Brule from Malternative. This one was already quite impressive, so I am very excited for this one.
COLOUR:
Again a very dark Daniel Bouju. Looks like a liquid dark cherry in the glass. Exciting!
NOSE:
A deep breath and it already shows, what the colour promises.
Wonderful dark fruits lying on an very old leather chair. And I mean really old (like 100 years old). It almost has the touch of and old whisky lying a long time in a sherry cask. And maybe it's because we have christmas looking around the corner, but I have some nice christmas spices there. And, after smelling a little bit, some (surprisingly) fresh cherries. Where do they come from?
PALATE:
First impression, not to sweet. You feel the power this cognac has to offer. The colour, the smell, and the palate go hand in hand. This happens in my opinion not very often, that these are all on the same line.
Very balanced, dark fruits again, after few seconds it gets a little bit sweeter and more spices appear. Like some pepper and a little bit ginger maybe. But all in all very smooth and not intrusive.
FINISH:
Ahhh.. What a beautiful medium-long finish.
This is how a finish of a good cognac should be.
Again some spices and warming. Maybe some gingerbread there.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
Another wonderful Cognac from Daniel Bouju. After the nose and the palate, I was wondering if the finish can pimp the result. Yes sir! Wonderful experience and great choice Pieter!
Would be happy to see and taste some more Cognacs from this house!
